About the Department:

Department of Learning (DOL) is a holistic department in Gateway Schools to bring out the latent skills for all the children & for the children with difficulties in learning. Those Children, who are certified from special education schools, that they can be socialized, are generally taken in by the Department and will be trained using Individualized Multispeciality Comprehensive Curriculum.

This Department is directed meticulously by the Director/Principal and headed by a Psychologist (cum Integrated Therapist & psychotherapist), with a team of professional special educators and academic trainers. The team is always coordinating with the academic heads and the teachers with regard to the children needs.

Goals of Department of Learning:

     To observe and guide the children in their physical psychological and moral development
     to contribute to their community through leadership and service;
     to value ethical behavior and to reason from moral principles;
     to value cooperation in work and play;
     to seek, identify, and using their own resources as well as the resources of their community, resolve problems in the social and natural environment.

Role of the Department:

Gateway’s Department of Learning will initially assess the child’s strength, real need psychologically completely, intensively and then our team will plan the executable system for the individual’s need. The curriculum is designed to achieve the developmental task in all dimensions parallelly focusing on their personality development by reducing their emotional distortions comfortably.

A learning disability is not something that can be outgrown or that is ‘cured’ by medication, therapy, or expert tutoring. So, early recognition of warning signs, well-targeted screening and assessment, effective intervention, and ongoing monitoring of progress are critical to helping individuals with LD to succeed in school, in the workplace, and in life.

Children with learning difficulties actually learn differently. They have different potentials which are assessed by our team and IEP is planned accordingly. We train all children who could find difficulty with the present curriculum. Our team will also focus to cover the normal curriculum but it is Mind centered individualized approach, having different levels.

The department of Learning also counsels the children for whoever required, as suggested by the Teachers.

Gateway’s Department of Learning is now standardized with multifaceted techniques with ideal team to up-bring the holistic welfare in children.

Moreover our Department has different sub units like Innovative Teachers unit, Skill Development Unit, Health unit where different studies, presentation are made along with the honorable teachers.
